Playford 1721, as a 48-bar dance. RSCDS condensed the first 16 bars to 8. 17th. century as "The Red House". Later renamed "Where would bonnie Annie lie" from words of Allan Ramsey's song, 1724. in RSCDS from Walshe's Country Dances 1731. Jamie Allen was a Northumbrian small-pipes player.
