Supposedly originated in 1803, when one Gibbie Laurenson was given the tune by visiting trowies. Originally called 'Faider's Tn' (father's tune) by his fiddler son. Later renamed 'Winyadepla' after a loch near the Fir Vaa water-mill. 'Fetlar Reel' is after the island where the tune originated.
