Notes

Niccolo Paganini (1782-1840), the great violin virtuoso, was not averse to folk tunes, often using them as the basis for his own work. This does not necessarily mean he wrote this one, although since it seems to be a variation on Soldiers Joy and Paganini really really liked doing variations ..... His contemporary the Scandinavian violinist Ole Bull was also keen on folk tunes,so much so that he even learnt to play the Hardanger Fiddle..CGP.. Rebeamed from pairs of qu's to fours..CGP
